Event description:
The Town Crier is a piece of work developed by Spanner after close work with community groups around contemporary social and personal issues. We asked: 'What do people care about?' and 'What annoys you about other people?' The resulting performance is an angry, comic, and sometimes insightful rant into the vagaries of others; the bitching neighbours; the ignorant drinkers; and Jeff the lovely old man who is persecuted for being too nice. Performed on a pop-up set, Spanner see what happens in a cartoon world where anger and suspicion can sometimes seem to be the only thing that connects us....
