General Manager for the Wolves Susie Hart says "The next run of games is absolutely vital for the team. We have won three out of the last four matches and a similar return from the next four will see us shoot up the table to a potential home play off position. We want to reward our loyal home fans with some consistent victories to match the exciting offensive play that is on offer every week. The Wolves have three players in the top 10 of BBL scorers in Skouson Harker, Anthony Paez and Justin Brown and our team are by far the highest points scorers per game in the entire league. Anyone who comes to the home matches at the University either this Saturday against the Sharks or next Saturday against the Plymouth Raiders will see the best attacking team in the whole of British basketball – and that is us!!." Milton Keynes coach Vince Macauley was at the second half of the last Wolves home game "Wolves seem similar to last year but not quite as smooth." If he had been there for the first half when the city team scored 66 points he may have had a different opinion but he went on "Life and Evans brought an edge which as at now they have not yet got. Coach Harker always plays with his heart on his sleeve and no one can ever fault his commitment. I like Brown for his size and touch and he was only three assists short of a triple double." Harker was pleased with his team last week in the victory against London and especially the improving form of point guard Will Funn. "Will did a nice job for us with 14 assists and that set the tempo for us. The Lions do have some good veteran players and they can do well on any night. I am not sure how the recent signing of Jason Obazuaye will affect them but I do know that he a good aggressive guard that will score points. It will be interesting on Friday to see how they mesh." Sheffield arrive at the university for the game on Saturday having won 5 and lost 5 BBL league games but have already beaten the Wolves in a cup game by 9 points. The star man on that occasion was the 6' 8" forward Chris Sanders with 23 points and he is averaging 17 points per game. He is well supported by Mathew Gorman 6' 10" who averages 15 points through the season and they will look to force a victory in the league to match their cup success. It will be a case of how well they can cope with a home team that is running into some real form as six Wolves players scored 15 points in last weeks match. |
