GOING GREAT GUNS!Worcester’s biggest and most exciting Festival kicked off this weekend with a sunny Saturday packed full of events and activities for everyone. And next weekend is going to be just as exciting with events including the first Worcester Festival Ceilidh on Friday evening at the Coppertops Pub in St Johns, on Saturday evening the Classic British Film Music night at the Cathedral and the Polish Film night at the Swan Theatre, and live music, street theatre and family activities all over the City. An extra bonus for the Festival is taking place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the firing of the 214 Battery Guns by the riverside. Those who witnessed the firing of the guns during the Festival in 2006 will remember what an amazing spectacle it is, and the Festival Organisers are also thrilled that the Mayor of Worcester will be setting one of the guns off herself: “This is a great addition to the Festival programme and we’re thrilled that the 214 Battery are able to be a part of it” said Chris Jaeger, Festival Director, “it was a magnificent experience back in 2006, and will no doubt be just as impressive this year.” Hundreds of events are taking place across the City at over 50 venues over the 3 weeks; many are which are completely free of charge. Make sure you get hold of a copy of the programme and get planning! For more information you can visit the Festival website www.worcesterfestival.co.uk and download a copy of the programme or ring the Box Office on 01905 611427. The Worcester Festival programme is also available Tourism Information Centres, shops, pubs and cafes across the city.
