THE WORCESTER FESTIVAL 2008
Events, Activities & Fun for Everyone!

It’s nearly that time of year again! Worcester’s biggest and most exciting Festival kicks off across the city from Saturday 2nd August to Bank Holiday Monday 25th August. Hundreds of events are taking place across the City at over 50 venues over the 3 weeks; many are which are completely free of charge.
Activities, Events and Fun for Everyone are what it's all about as staff, performers and volunteers get set for the three week long programme.
New for this year is a weekend of Live Music in pubs and other venues around the city, a Polish Film Night, the Festival Ceilidh, and a variety hot air balloon events - alongside the favourites, face painting for the children, wacky street theatre, family workshops and films to suit every taste. Highlights at Huntingdon Hall include The Temperance Seven (hot '20s Jazz), and at the Swan Theatre Ska Insania featuring Complete Madness and a passionate close to the Festival with Flamenco Express
Director of Worcester Live, Chris Jaeger said "We're all really looking forward to the Festival, this year's events are a great mix of people's favourites and some new themes. It's all about getting everyone involved, and the new events are designed to appeal to more people than ever.' The Festival kicks off on Saturday 2nd August with a flurry of colourful performers and free events taking place across the city centre, including live street theatre, Chinese Dragon dance displays, live bands, comedy shows and a free fireworks display down by the river at 10pm to mark the opening of the Three Choirs and Worcester Festival as well as the usual finale fireworks at the end of the Festival. With so much crammed into 3 weeks there’s not going to be a dull moment. Make sure you get hold of a copy of the programme and get planning!
