If you can’t get to Wimbledon this year, enjoy the next best thing….the Strawberry Festival in Worcester.
Punnets of strawberries, strawberry cocktails, jams, flans will greet you in the High Street the weekend of the Wimbledon tennis finals Saturday, July 5th and Sunday, July 6th.
Enjoy the relaxing surroundings of College Green, where you can buy strawberry cream teas, strawberry croissants, champagne and strawberries.
Pink and red glass artefacts created by local artist Kim Bicknell will be on sale, local schools, will also design an Arts trail based on their interpretation of the strawberry theme which visitors can follow around the city.
The festival, which comes to the city for the first time this year, has been arranged by VisitWorcester, an organisation that encourages tourism in the city.
VisitWorcester’s Angela O’Neill said: “We all love Wimbledon but not that many people are able to go so we are bringing a taste of the summer to Worcester instead. There will be dozens of stalls, hundreds of strawberries and it looks set to be a weekend to remember.”
